Violin Teacher, London: London, United Kingdom; I am a freelance violinist and teacher and am teaching not only privately but also working for a local London Music Service. The work that I have done with this music service has enabled me to gain valuable experience teaching children in groups of all sizes. I have always been involved in working with young people as a local youth leader and have found that they need an outlet to express their emotions and energies. Music is the perfect vehicle for this. I believe that children grow through positive experiences and that playing an instrument develops both self-reliance and teamwork skills. The discipline of playing an instrument is excellent for developing self-awareness as well as improving self-esteem. Every child should have an opportunity to experience playing an instrument. Since leaving university I have continued to study the violin and I am now working towards the Dip ABRSM teaching diploma, which I hope to have completed by the end of the academic year. I am also an active freelance violinist and regularly play in venues all around the county.
